Board of Trustees strive to provide staff support

(SEMINOLE) - The Team of 8, SISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent, agreed to board member campus assignments and goals for the fall and spring semesters at the July board meeting.

The purpose behind the assignments is to be a physical presence and support on each of the six campuses. Each board member will be assigned two campuses in a given school year; one assignment per semester. Over the course of a three year term, he/she will serve as a committed liaison for each campus.

“Our goal is to have a board member attend the programs, luncheons, activities, be accessible, and show support for their assigned campus. We want our staff to know we are here for them. That is the message we want to send by doing this,” stated Shane Wimmer, SISD Board President.

The following assignments were agreed upon for the 2018 - 2019 school year.

The Team of 8 identified and agreed upon the following goals for 2018-2019 school year.

  1. Given that communication can always improve, the SISD Team of 8 strives to be open to the public, accept their input, improve parent involvement and be willing to answer any question at any time.
  2. The SISD Team of 8 will attempt to ensure that all student needs are met by developing instructional leadership district-wide and by being student performance focused. Consistent training opportunities and support in the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model will be given to our employees, in the effort to provide advancement opportunities from within the district when at all possible.
  3. Seminole ISD will lead the region and the state when comparing student outcomes.
  4. The SISD Team of 8 will continue to search for ways to better attract and maintain a highly qualified professional staff by offering competitive wages and benefits, while maintaining our technology initiatives and striving for a balanced budget.

The Team of 8 are passionate and committed to meeting the needs of students, staff, and community as they work diligently together to maintain Seminole ISD as a leader of West Texas. They encourage all members of the community and schools to reach out to them with thoughts regarding what is working, questions, or concerns. The Team of 8 feel productive communication is essential in order to promote a district focused on culture, balance, and growth.
