Seminole ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Matt Hawkins as the new principal of FJ Young Elementary. A familiar and trusted leader within the district, Dr. Hawkins brings a deep commitment to student success, a strong background in instructional leadership, and an unwavering dedication to the Seminole community.
Dr. Hawkins, a proud Seminole High School graduate, holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University and both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Education from West Texas A&M University.
Dr. Hawkins has served Seminole ISD since 2011, beginning his career as a coach and science teacher. In 2018, he joined the Seminole Junior High leadership team as an Assistant Principal. Recently, Dr. Hawkins was recognized as Region 17 Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year and was later named Texas Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year.
“Dr. Hawkins’ leadership style reflects the values we hold dear in Seminole ISD—relationships, service, and a relentless focus on student achievement,” said Dr. Glen Teal, Superintendent of Schools. “We are excited for the future of FJ Young under his leadership.”
Dr. Hawkins expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this new role, saying, “It’s an incredible honor to lead a campus in the community that shaped me. I am committed to building on the great work already happening at FJ Young and ensuring our students and staff continue to thrive.”
