Guidelines for Keeping Your Child Home
  • Temperature of 100.0 or higher during the past 24 hours.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea during the night or before school.
  • Contagious diseases such as chickenpox, strep throat, pink eye, or any unexplained rash.
  • Students may return to school after 24 hours of antibiotic therapy for strep throat or pink eye.
  • Please contact the school nurse if you have any questions.
Immunizations
All students must be fully immunized against certain diseases or must present a statement for medical reasons or a certificate from the state for reasons or conscience. 

For exemptions based on reasons of conscience, the District can honor only official forms issued by the Texas Department of Health.

The Health Department gives immunizations every Monday from 8:00 am until 11:30 am and 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. They are available from 8 am to 3 pm on the first Monday of the month.

When your child receives an immunization please bring a copy of the shot record to school so we can keep your child's health record up-to-date.
Medication at School: All medication should be taken to the nurse at the beginning of the day. If medication is to be taken home at the end of the day it will only be given to the student's parent and/or guardian. Students are not allowed to transport medications to and from school. The parent/guardian must make arrangements for the dropping off and pick up of medications. 
 

Prescription Medication: Prescription medication must be in the container in which it was purchased; it must have the name of the medication, the doctor's orders for the prescription, the dosage and the times to be given, also the physician's name must be printed on the container. The prescription medication must have a written note from the parent. Please note: requirements for administering prescription medications may differ from campus to campus at the nurse's discretion

Over the Counter Medication: Over the counter medication must be provided by the parent, in the original container, and must be accompanied with parent signature for administration. Over the counter medication will only be given as the dosage is prescribed by the FDA on the container. It will only be given three days consecutively without a doctor's authorization. 
 
Inhalers: All inhalers must stay in the nurse's office unless we have a note from the physician stating the child is capable of self-administration.
