At Seminole Junior High, students in Katie Ericson’s classroom know they’re learning more than just skills—they’re learning confidence, consistency, and what it feels like to be supported. That steady presence is one reason Mrs. Ericson has been recognized as a Seminole ISD Teacher of the Month.
In class, she keeps expectations clear while cheering students on in the moment. During a recent lesson, she encouraged her students by saying, “Y’all are doing really good… a lot of you are really trying to use your home row keys while you’re typing, and that’s the goal.”
Colleagues say the heart of her work is the care she shows students every day. Seminole Junior High Assistant Principal Jeff Patterson shared, “What I admire about Katie is the passion that she brings to what she teaches, but even more than that, the empathy that she exhibits for our students.” Principal Abi Adam described Katie's impact on campus simply and sincerely: “Katie Ericson is a blessing to the junior high. She brings a kind presence, a steady influence.”
For Mrs. Ericson, the message she wants students to carry forward is personal and lasting. She reminds them that “life is hard, but there’s always people in their corner that are cheering them on,” and that “they’re not alone.” She also hopes they remember that support doesn’t end when the bell rings—she’ll be there “to support and encourage them… even after they’ve left my classroom.”
Seminole ISD is proud to recognize Mrs. Ericson for the difference she makes at Seminole Junior High.
